Control
Room B
This is where the lessons on Electro-acoustics and on Recording and Mixing
Techniques take place. Here the students enter into direct contact with
the essential tools of the trade used by sound technicians, and practice
mixing on an analogue bench or using the outboards most commonly used in
live performances.
Synthesis and Sampling Laboratory
This laboratory is where the practical Synthesis and Sampling lessons
are held. Either with the help of a teacher or by themselves, the
students can practice on real equipment, and try their hand at
programming synthesizers or creating sound libraries.
Pre-production laboratory
Arrangement and MIDI Pre-production lessons are held in this laboratory,
which is more specifically related to the course for Tecnico di Musica
Interattiva per le Arti Digitali (Digital Arts Interactive Music
Technician). Equipped with the instruments and software most commonly
used during the pre-production stages of any piece of music, the
student can record vocal tracks and instrumental backing, edit audio
and MIDI on sequencers, and program synthesizers, expanders and samplers.
Control Room A
Considered the school’s main control room, control room A can
boast a Pro Tools Mix+ Digidesign system and the main softwares used
in professional audio, as well as a digital mixer and pre-amp, compression
and valve equalization section. A double listening system, a permanent
video link-up with the recording study complete the list of equipment,
while the room is hard-wired to the Sala Verdi, the vocal booth and
the synthesis and sampling room.
This room is often used in conjunction with the recording studio
for lessons on recording and mixing techniques, microphone techniques,
computer music, audio/video and production techniques.
Sala Verdi - Recording Studio
The convent’s old chapel has today become the Sala Verdi, which
features natural acoustics and a series of mixed surfaces within
an area of 120 square metres. This room, however, has a dual function:
it is the recording studio for the courses held by the new technologies
department, which uses it for recording sessions and lessons on microphone
and recording techniques and the use of live systems; whereas during
the periods of the year when it is taken over by the classical music
department it becomes the orchestra’s rehearsal room and the
studio for its recording sessions.
ACCOMMODATION
RESIDENCE
The School offers students who enrol for the courses the opportunity
to live-in, providing living accommodation in the basement of the
school, which was once the convent’s vault.
The residential area follows the plan of the upper floor, and there
are three long corridors onto which 20 rooms open, with three communal
areas.
The rooms are of different sizes, are fully furnished with bed and
pillow, wardrobe, bedside table and writing desk. The rooms may contain
1, 2, 3 or 4 beds.
The building is centrally heated.
THINGS TO KNOW
What you need to know
Only enrolled students can occupy the rooms and only for the duration
of the course.

the room is occupied for a short period only.
The bathrooms and other communal areas are cleaned daily, while the
student is responsible for keeping his/her own room clean and tidy.
There is no refectory and no animals are allowed on the premises.

against accidents both when at school or on placements.
Students are responsible for their own belongings, and are required
to observe the safety notices (in accordance with Dlgs 626/95 and
refrain from using household appliances that do not conform to CE
